Tutorial: Winged Liner with a Turquoise Pop

IMG_2064

Hello and welcome to KateFish! I am so excited to finally get my blog started! I figured that a makeup tutorial would be the most appropriate way to get things going so I decided to do a more bold look that I’ve been experimenting with this month.

I’m a huge fan of the classic winged liner look. A little bit of bold liquid eyeliner and an intense lip color can dress you up for any occasion. I decided to spice it up a bit with my Stila Stay All Day Waterproof liquid Eye Liner in teal. I haven’t gotten too much use out of this baby since I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to bright colors, but it worked perfectly for this look.

I started off with black eyeliner on both eyes like I would for a normal winged look. I use the CLIO Kill Black Waterproof Pen Liner. It is the best liner marker I have ever used and I swear by it.

I’m showing you one eye at a time to make things easier, but be aware that both sides of my liner definitely don’t match. I see a lot of people being hard on themselves for mismatched wings, but it is a fact of life. As long as they look similar it’s all good. As I always say, eyes and eyebrows are sisters, not twins. That goes for your wings too!

Next I added the Stila liner on the outer corner of the wing and on the inner corners of my eyes for a shocking color pop.

That’s pretty much all it takes to finish up this look! It is pretty simple and requires no eyeshadow whatsoever. I am wearing my Urban Decay Primer Potion because I have the greasiest eyelids in the world, but otherwise there isn’t much more to it! Here’s a picture of both eyes with just the liner:

I finished off the look with a nude eyeliner in the lower waterline (Rimmel Scandeleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in 005 nude), and my current favorite mascara, Buxom Full & Fabulous. I did my eyebrows with the Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown.

Below I have some pictures of the final product and the rest of my face makeup. I used the Dr. Jart Bounce Beauty Balm as my base, the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, Clinique Powder Blush in 108 Cupid, and the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Honey for my lips.  I’ve done this look with regular eyeliner as well in case you are squeamish about using liquid liners.

I think this makeup is perfect when you want to dress up a bit without extra work. Spring and summer are the best time for a pop of extra color in my opinion!
