Tutorial: Glowing Summer Look

IMG_2438Hello all! I’m back and recovered from my wisdom teeth surgery so I decided to do another tutorial this week. This makeup look is supposed to be glowing and a bit bronze. I wore this one to the Fourth of July yesterday and I decided to do a little tutorial. Read on for the look!

I started this look off with a layer of a shimmery gold all over the lid. This color comes from a sample palette I have of Clinique’s Beach Plum duo. The plum in my palette fell out (sob) but the gold still makes a nice shimmery base color. It is great for highlighting as well. I used it on the inner corners and my brow bone at the end. I did about two layers to really boost the shine.

The next step involved a second Clinique mini duo that I got as a gift, aptly named “glow”. I reviewed it here! I used the lighter color Sunset Glow in my crease to create some dimension and warm things up. It is a very beautiful bronzy/beige.

Since I wanted this look to be light and summery I avoided dark shadow in the outer corners and instead opted for a bronzy eyeliner. I used the second duo color, Black Honey, to line the outer corners of my upper and lower eyelids. Lining the lower part gave an extra pop of the bronze color.

I finished off the look with some mascara and moved onto my face. I think a summer look needs a base that won’t slide or quit in hot weather. I used the tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation. Mineral makeup stays on my face much better over a hot day because it isn’t sticky. I used a bit of powder in my t-zone to help as well. To add to the glowing look I used the blush in both duos, Clinique’s Mocha Pink. Many use bronzer religiously in the summer, but I’ve never found one that I like or that I can use well. So I opt for a brownish pink blush to add that summery color.

The final touch was a nice highlighter to add some light to my face. I used Benefit’s Watt’s Up on my cheekbones, nose, chin, and the middle of the forehead. It is a little hard to see the highlighter in the pictures but it was very visible in the sunlight. I finished the look with a patriotic red lipstick (Revlon’s Wine with Everything) and was ready to go a barbecue! Check out the finished look below!

Thanks for reading everyone! Next week I’m hoping to do a little tour and tutorial of my makeup brushes as per request. Don’t forget to follow me on social media in the side bar!
