Tutorial: Purple Smoky Eye

IMG_3020

I’m a big fan of all eyeshadows purple, as many of you might be able to tell. Purple is such a wearable color for eyeshadow and it also makes green eyes like mine pop! This look is replicated from something I tried at a wedding I attended recently. I was experimenting because I was out of town with only a few products, but I think it turned out beautifully! Read on for this tutorial.

The two products I used for this look are easy to travel with, which is why they were with me. The first is a Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint in Lavish Lilac. The other is a Loréal Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Smoldering Plum. I started off the look with a solid base and my brows.

Next up was a nice messy layer of the shadow stick. I love this product because it is so easy to apply and the color is gorgeous. This lilac is my most true neutral purple, so it barely shows up and adds a light wash of color.

Next up was the much darker color in the outer corners. These Loréal pigments are ridiculously good for the price. They have some extreme pigment so be careful. I didn’t have a blending color with me at the time so I went with this dark color and hoped for the best. I just stuck a messy blob in the outer corner at first.

The key to this 2 product look is a very blendable eyeshadow. I started in the outer corner and just started blending this color into my crease until it softened up. The look is rather messy, but I think a smoky eye looks nice this way. Plus, it was incredibly easy!

The last step was a bit of purple eyeliner. I like adding this liner because it makes the shadow look a bit more purple rather than grey. I used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Liner in Purple. Last was a bit of mascara to finish the eye look!

I used the deep Tarte blush Exposed to keep me from “going ghost” and a nice deep pink lip. I think pink lips go so well with purple and don’t look too extreme.

That’s the finished smoky eye look! Tell me your favorite wedding guest looks in the comments. Don’t forget to follow on social media!
