Look of the Month: July 2016

Hey all! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I was in a bit of a rut and I’ve finally been rehashing things and improving the blog! To start, I’m going to be posting a lot more ootd’s and makeup looks on my Instagram and Twitter. If you guys especially like anything, please let me know and I can make a tutorial of the look!

As for today, it’s my second monthly look post! I’m pretty excited to share this look because I’ve been wearing it quite a bit this month. Check it out below!

As many of you know, I was on a bit of hiatus because of international travel and being generally busy. When I was in Spain I was inspired to create this look because I was missing my glam flavor a bit. Trips are awesome, but they aren’t really conducive to fabulous false lashes and shimmer. This look got me into the spirit for the rest of this HOT HOT summer.

For my eyes I created a glam look in a very simple way (that’s always the goal for summer right?). You might recognize this eyeshadow from my previous post on Reflective Bronze Eyeshadow. I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze all over my lid and topped it with Loreal’s Amber Rush. I refined the look a bit more from my previous post by tapping the shimmer just in the center. This process keeps the shadow from looking too wet or greasy. I added a thick wing with my CLIO Kill Black Eyeliner and added the Sephora Astonish lashes on just my outer corners. I almost never pull out the full falsies when I’m going to work like I was when this photo was taken. It’s just too much work and I’m not that great at applying them.

For my face I used the usual Nyx eyebrow duo and my It Cosmetics CC Cream. After concealing some unfortunate blemishes (CURSE YOU HORMONES) with my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair, I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blushing Bride on my cheeks. I finished with a staple lipstick I’ve been wearing all month, Ofra’s liquid lipstick in Miami Fever. This lipstick has been hyped up a lot, but it is 100% true. If there is one Ofra liquid lipstick you should get, it’s this one. The burnt orange is stunning for summer and looks so awesome on my complexion. I can’t get enough of it (and it lasts all day too)!

The outfit I’m wearing is perfect for going to work and staying cool in the summer heat. These Gap ripped boyfriend jeans are my “summer jeans” for a reason: they are cooler with all the holes and they are still appropriate for my job at the salon. I only own one peplum top, and I love its color as well as print. I bought this shirt at Forever21 to go Disney Bound as Simba from the Lion King (the greatest Disney movie of all time thank you), and it is so flattering on my shape! It is also great for showing off my tattoos. If you’re a pale person, don’t fear the mustard yellow. It is really a very flattering color.

I kept my accessories pretty simple. You can see in the previous picture that I wore my longtime elephant necklace because it spices up any boring plain top. I wore my pearl earrings because they match just about anything, and finished off with a silver cuff to match the necklace. There’s nothing like an ear cuff to add a little bit of punk to an otherwise feminine outfit!

This look is so perfect for the summer because it still leans semi-professional (no booty shorts or crop tops here), but it is not hot either. The holes in the pants help a whole lot, and and makeup is so glam that I felt awesome all day. I hope you enjoyed this look, and don’t forget to check me out on social media!
