The Look: A Day in the City

IMG_2649Hello all! I’m trying something new today and giving you a rundown of my entire look for a specific day. This post includes a quick look at my makeup, outfit, and accessories for a particular event. Today’s focus is the look I wore to go into the city last Friday. I fell in love with this look and I really wanted to share! Let me know if you want to see more of this kind of thing! Read on for more.

The first component of my looks is usually my makeup. My eye makeup was inspired by this post on xovain. I thought Maricar did such a beautiful rose gold look and I couldn’t wait to try it. I used Trick from the Naked3 on my lower lids, Burnout in the crease, and Darkside for my soft liner wings. If you’re looking to replicate this look just use a nice goldish color on the lower lid, a pink in the crease, and a dark grey or brown for the liner. I love a pink look for a day in the city because it is neutral but can be noticeable at night because of the shimmer.

You may notice that I also added some false lashes, which I don’t do often. I haven’t been able to go out and do anything recently so I decided to go all out. I used a pair of Sephora Astonish lashes and cut them in half. I find this is the best way to keep from overwhelming my eye size. I stuck them in the outer corners for a more dramatic look.

I wore the Clinique matte foundation as my base, the Maybellline Fit Me Concealer under my eyes, the Benefit Watt’s Up for a highlighter, and the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful. I’m wearing Makeup Forever’s Copper Pink on my lips. The foudation is perfect for a long day in the city because it stays put. I also love this blush because it is a peachy color that looks great in summer. Keep a look out for the blush in my blush collection post that’s coming up!

Next up is my outfit. I went with a skirt and crop top to keep cool. I like to wear this black and cream striped skirt because it looks really dressy and chic. I layered my chambray shirt on top in case things got cold at night or on the train. I also wore my ankle boots because they are comfortable for walking and make any outfit look a bit more put together.

I wore my hair pushed up because I was worried about my bangs getting sweaty and lasting though the night. The headband is just a bandanna that I rolled up and tied.

For my jewelry I wore a pink and gold statement necklace from Forever 21 to make the shirt less plain looking. I added a gold earring with a chain on one side. It is one of my favorite statement ear accessories. I used more gold on the other side with a maple leaf earring and ear cuff. I used gold earrings to match my necklace.

That’s my finished look everyone! I hope it was fun to see what I like to wear when I go into the city! This look kept going all night and I was comfortable all the way home. Let me know what you think of this style of post in the comments! I hope to do more looks like this in the future. Thanks for reading!
